You can see production pricing and how Mailiens works before creating an account. An account is required only when you are ready to use your real artwork or calculate postage from your list.

Getting started and pricing

The essential questions before you begin.

What does Mailiens do?

Mailiens combines postcard production with response analytics. Each mailed piece receives its own tracking identity, so when a QR code is scanned, your campaign can show which piece responded, which QR side was used, and when it happened.

Do your production prices include USPS postage?

No. Public pricing is the production price per piece and includes Mailiens analytics. USPS postage is calculated separately from the actual destinations in your mailing list. Before checkout, Mailiens shows the complete campaign total for your approval.

Why do I need an account to see exact postage?

USPS postage depends on your real destinations and postal qualification—not a generic estimate. Your account provides a protected place to add your mailing list, calculate the postage available for that campaign, and save the result while you continue working.

Which postcard formats are supported?

Mailiens currently supports full-color addressed 6 × 9 and 6 × 11 postcards. Choose the format when you create the campaign so artwork, safe areas, postal geometry, pricing, and production output stay format-aware.

Do I have to complete the steps in a fixed order?

No. After creating a campaign, you can work on artwork or add your mailing list first. Mailiens saves both paths and brings the required approvals, accepted quote, and payment authority together at checkout.

Artwork, mailing lists, and QR codes

Bring the work you already use and keep control of it.

Can I use my own postcard artwork?

Yes. Mailiens is designed for artwork you or your designer already created—not a template-only workflow. Upload the Front and Back, then position, size, rotate, style, and test each tracking QR directly on the artwork.

Where can I find artwork specifications and mailing-list templates?

Complete specifications, reserved postal-area measurements, artwork templates, and the approved sample mailing-list file are available from Templates & Specs after you sign in. The Creative Control also shows trim, bleed, safe-area, and restricted postal geometry on the exact format you selected.

Can the Front and Back have different QR codes?

Yes. You can place one unique tracking QR on the Front and another on the Back. Each side can have its own placement, appearance, and action. Analytics can then tell you which side generated the response.

When is my mailing list required?

You do not need a list to begin working in the Creative Control. Your actual mailing list is required when you want exact postage and the complete campaign price, and again for the final addressed production run.

How is my mailing list used?

It is used for the campaign work you authorize: postal qualification, addressed production, piece-level attribution, suppression checks, and campaign reporting. It is kept within your protected workspace and is not a public asset.

Responses, alerts, and privacy

Useful information without pretending a scan proves more than it does.

Will I know exactly which postcard was scanned?

Yes. Mailiens can connect the scan to the exact mailed piece and the Front or Back QR used. When your authorized list supports it, the dashboard can present that piece using the intended mailing recipient and address so it is useful for follow-up.

Does that mean I know the physical identity of the person holding the phone?

Not necessarily. A postcard may be shared. Mailiens identifies the responding piece and its intended recipient record; it does not claim that the person scanning is always that recipient. Analytics may flag evidence consistent with a likely shared piece without exposing an exact scan location.

What can I see in campaign analytics?

You can see response totals, unique responding pieces, first and repeat scans, Front-versus-Back activity, recent responses, campaign trends, privacy-safe geographic patterns, notification health, and responder mailing lists for future campaigns.

Can Mailiens alert me when a postcard is scanned?

Yes. Email scan alerts can be enabled through your customer preferences. Delivery status and exceptions are reconciled so Mailiens can show whether alerts are healthy. Additional notification channels are offered only when their provider and consent controls are ready.

Does the map show exact scan locations?

No. Customer maps use privacy-safe geographic aggregation and minimum thresholds. Exact coordinates, IP addresses, street-level scan locations, visitor hashes, and tracking secrets are not displayed.

Can I export people who responded?

Yes. Eligible responding pieces can be reviewed as follow-up recipients and exported for an authorized follow-up workflow. Global do-not-mail suppression is rechecked before follow-up authority or production.

What happens if someone asks not to receive mail?

Add the recipient to the global do-not-mail suppression list in your workspace. Mailiens rechecks suppressions before campaign and follow-up production so a saved mailing list cannot silently reintroduce a suppressed address. Reversing a suppression requires a separately recorded review rather than a casual list edit.

Approval, payment, and production

You keep the authority to move the campaign forward.

When do I approve the quote and artwork?

Your current postage quote can be saved while you continue working. At checkout, Mailiens brings the saved campaign total and final creative approval together so you can review the exact job before authorizing payment and launch.

Does production have to finish before I can authorize payment?

No. Checkout authorization happens first. The canonical production package is then built in the background. Payment is finalized only under the accepted customer authority and the campaign's production-validation rules.

What if the production package cannot pass validation?

Mailiens stops the release rather than silently sending an invalid package. The payment timeline and campaign status preserve what happened, and the job remains recoverable for review. Any capture, void, or refund action follows the recorded provider state rather than being guessed.

What is included in the vendor production package?

The canonical handoff is intentionally minimal: the approved production PDF/X-4 and the required Mail.dat evidence. Vendor selection, release, and operational evidence are controlled separately from the customer account.

Can Mailiens automatically create follow-up mail?

Mailiens can prepare follow-up recipients and a follow-up campaign workflow, but it does not create an open-ended mailing authority. The recipients, suppressions, economics, quote, duplicate-mail choices, and payment authority are reviewed before any follow-up batch can proceed.

Still deciding where to begin?

Start with the number you already care about: production price per piece. When you are ready, create an account to explore the Creative Control, use the specifications, add your mailing list privately, and calculate the complete mailed price.
